Hi! I’m Ida R. Muorie, JD, Host and Executive Producer of The Sports Mavericks Internet Radio and TV Show.

Let me introduce you to The Sports Mavericks Talk Show.  The show started December 7, 2004 during the 2004 NFL Rookie Camp in San Diego and has been growing ever since.  Today the show is one of the nation’s fastest-growing talk shows that is creating a “New Universe In Sports.”

As a member of the University of Florida’s Gator Parent Group for four years (2000-2004), I recognized a need for some type of organized education for parents of football athletes in the business process of NCAA sports, recruiting, eligibility and going professional. In creating a model program, we learned that the need was greatest for the average athlete that had the same burning desire to play at the elite level but had not competed at the same level or did not have the opportunity to do so at the college level.

My observation as a consultant to the Life Skill Program (2003-Present), showed me that parents of athletes playing in most sports are generally not acquainted with the business of sports, and often times, the major decisions that affect their child’s future is left to uninformed coaches, trainers, sports agents and relatives.  As a result, many desiring athletes fall through the cracks at graduation or prematurely go professional before they are prepared to deal with the rigorous lifestyle of a professional athlete.

Following up on this, I decided to accept an invitation from www.voiceamerica.com to become a Sports Talk Show Host in 2004.  Staying focus on finding ways to level the playing field for desiring athletes and educating parents along the way to participate more effectively in the decision-making process, we developed a niche market of parents of athletes and sports professionals.  My goal was to format a show based on real life stories told by professional athletes and sports professionals.  The show was aided by two sports advisers Max Starks and Henry Lawrence and co-Host Eleanor Starks.  After successfully formatting the original pilot around Fifteen Pro-Ready Principles, we took the show to the next level for our audience by inviting guest co-hosts that were carefully chosen for their specific expertise and contribution to sports.

The program broadcasted “Live”; Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. PST.
The show simultaneously streamed over the Internet by www.voiceamerica.com.
The show is currently being made available to selected radio stations across the country. Our broadcasts have been available on replay, and we have since developed a listening audience in 15 foreign countries.  Our original content became a favorite subject for sports magazines and sports programs worldwide.
